Time-Saving and Cost-Effective Tooling
Because BTD can complete every aspect of tooling using our advanced welding, machining and other equipment, our tooling services typically come at a lower cost than our competitors. We can also complete the job faster, because everything is done in-house.

But, most importantly, having the entire set of tooling steps handled at one job shop means that BTD has a stronger grip on quality control. Since we can monitor every aspect of the metalwork project, we’ll know exactly what needs to be remedied and be able fix the problem without delaying the project.

Tooling Research and Development
If you aren’t exactly sure what you need in a finished metal product, trust BTD to innovate a solution for you. After sitting down in a planning session, we’ll provide a prototype of the proposed finished product that can easily be modified to meet your vision.

More About Our Services

Tool Design Process & Progressive Tooling
Our tool design process will take your project from start to finish. We begin with a thorough analysis of your needs. By obtaining detailed information from the start, we are able to implement a plan and quote a price for your project.

Then, our on-site designers, using Solidworks Design stations, can import your existing blueprint or CAD file, or create one for you. Next, we make a flat blank and do several strip layouts to find the best combination of material usage, ease of maintenance and class of die needed.

We proceed to die layout of the plan and section views. At each stage, we involve at least three people to individually analyze the design process. In addition, we encourage our customers to participate in any or all of the steps.

Once complete, our stamping dies are run through a rigorous die try-out to make certain it adheres to our quality standards.

Our proactive process works to provide a trouble-free die the first time, every time. We fully detail all the components so our dies are easily maintained.

CNC & EDM
BTD has the people, expertise and CNC & EDM equipment to deliver for our customers. Our programmers and technicians – using the latest software, state-of-the-art tool-building technology and a host of machining centers – create outstanding products with substantial efficiencies.

Each operator spends time with our toolmakers to gain a better understanding of the components that they are machining. This helps our operators produce precision parts more accurately and efficiently.

All die components are made to be duplicated. This step saves you time and money if you ever need to replace a component in an emergency or for general maintenance. We also store your engineering files electronically, so we can quickly reproduce or replace parts for you — without the die.

Our capacity ranges from 20” by 30” travels with high-speed spindles, to a twin column bridge machine with 70” by 102” travels. With this variety of machines, we can create large or small dies quickly and cost-efficiently.

In addition, we have varying sizes of wire EDM´s with travel capabilities up to 16” by 28”. All of our machines are equipped with auto threaders and travels allowing for large multiple set-ups that can run throughout the night, increasing productivity.

Tool Room
Our die technicians are innovators that continually strive to improve with every die that is built! In addition, they are masters at overseeing a job from start to finish. Our die technicians are in charge of coordinating the progression of jobs through CNC, heat treat, EDM, assembly and die tryout.

Our process is deliberate, smooth and efficient. The result is a quality product, timely delivery and lower costs for our customers.

Die Tryout
We want you to be assured of trouble-free performance when you receive a die from BTD. Consequently, our process for testing your dies is second to none.

For quality assurance, we run your die through tryout presses ranging from 45 to 800 tons. These presses have full feed lines which allows us to simulate fully progressive runs to test real-world conditions. This allows us to test for trouble-free feeding and parts printing that is absolutely on spec.
