Quality Technician (FAIR Inspector)

Summary: Functions as liaison for other departments to ensure that (internal and external) customer’s expectations are met. Effectively conducts and processes First Article Inspections and communicates the status of tools or new processes to necessary personnel and departments. Assists with any quality functions (such as floor inspection, engineering change notices, part/process development) to enable product flow. Works continuously to improve department functions and processes.

Essential Functions: This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties and responsibilities.
1. Performs quality functions as necessary to ensure department success.
2. Sustains and conveys a professional attitude towards customers (internal and external), which typically will involve conflicting issues.
3. Works to continuously expand knowledge of customer parts, inspection methods, production processes, and any other factors affecting quality of parts.
4. Relates customer requirements through computer system, master files, and job information from learned knowledge stemming from product knowledge, first article inspection and non-conformances.
5. Assists in developing new inspectors and assisting/instructing others in the area of quality assurance inspection equipment and inspection techniques.
6. Utilizes coordinate measuring equipment extensively for part measurement on a daily basis.
7. Conducts first article or development inspections per process, effectively reports measurement findings to necessary personnel/departments.
8. Works with necessary personnel/departments to ensure Customer requirements are met regarding issues with parts and production processes.
9. Complies with BTD’s Policies and Procedures. Conducts self within company values in working towards the company mission.

Experience and Skills Required:
1. Strong working knowledge of computer-aided inspection equipment as well as the materials, methods and practices used in production and quality assurance operations.
2. Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
3. Strong working knowledge of the Company’s ISO 9001 Quality System and the ability to work within the established system.
4. Ability to read, interprets, and uses production blueprints and specifications effectively within the inspection environment.
5. Understands safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.
6. Ability to prioritize workload and to accomplish tasks by assigned dates.
7. Ability to understand, follow and issue routine oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduation from high school with at least three years of recent related manufacturing quality experience including at least two years of inspection experience.
